Gerard Piqué

Gerard Piqué Bernabeu, born in 1987 in Barcelona, stands as a central figure in modern professional football, having secured 37 major trophies during a career defined by defensive dominance. Educated at La Salle Bonanova and Ashton-on-Mersey School, he transitioned from a youth prospect at La Masia to a decorated centre-back for both Manchester United and FC Barcelona.

Early Career and Manchester United

Piqué began his path at FC Barcelona’s youth system before moving to Manchester United in 2004 without a professional transfer fee. He made his professional debut in October 2004 during a League Cup match against Crewe Alexandra. After a season-long loan to Real Zaragoza in 2006, he returned to Old Trafford, making nine league appearances during the 2007–08 season and scoring his first Champions League goals against Dynamo Kyiv and Roma.

Success at FC Barcelona

Returning to Barcelona in 2008, Piqué became a cornerstone of a squad that achieved historic trebles in the 2008–09 and 2014–15 seasons. Over 616 competitive appearances, he helped the club secure nine La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies. His tenure included the 2009 sextuple, where he assisted a critical goal in the FIFA Club World Cup Final against Estudiantes.

International Representation and Business

Piqué earned 102 caps for Spain following his debut on 11 February 2009. He contributed to the successful campaigns at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012, retiring from international football after the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Beyond the pitch, he is a businessperson who founded the Kings League in 2022, an organization based in Spain that has since expanded into international regions.
