Academic Training
Born in Bucharest in 1899, Gabriel Sudan pursued advanced mathematical studies abroad. He attended the University of Göttingen, a global hub for the field during the early twentieth century. In 1925, he completed his Ph.D. with a thesis titled Über die geordneten Mengen, which translates to On the theory of ordered sets. His doctoral research was conducted under the supervision of the prominent mathematician David Hilbert.

Following his education, Sudan returned to his home country of Romania. He served on the faculty at the Politehnica University of Bucharest, where he taught from 1941 until his retirement in 1966. Throughout his tenure at the institution, he contributed to the academic landscape of mathematics within Romania until his death in 1977.
