Formative Years and Education
González-Pulido relocated to northern Mexico at the age of six. During his adolescence, he balanced an interest in technology with a musical inclination, often composing his own work. He began his formal architectural training at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in 1987, graduating in 1991. Seeking exposure to larger-scale projects and advanced design concepts, he later attended the Harvard Graduate School of Design, earning a master's degree in 1999.

Before his formal education concluded, González-Pulido established the firm 2MX3, undertaking various independent projects including the U2 Studio in Dublin, Casa Zárate, and the General Motors Centro Técnico S XXI. In 1999, he moved to Chicago to join Murphy/Jahn. Working closely with Helmut Jahn, he applied the collaborative concept of Archi-Neering. His career path at the firm progressed rapidly; he became the first partner in 2009 and served as president from 2012.
Design Philosophy and FGP Atelier
In 2017, González-Pulido departed from the renamed firm JAHN to establish FGP Atelier. His methodology emphasizes transparency and energy efficiency, rejecting stylistic trends in favor of solving unique project requirements.
