During the late 1990s and early 2000s, McGregor participated in diverse film projects. He played the young Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy between 1999 and 2005. His musical performance in Moulin Rouge! earned significant critical attention. Throughout this period, he also starred in Black Hawk Down, the fantasy film Big Fish, and the thriller Angels and Demons. Later, he appeared in The Ghost Writer and the romantic comedy Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
