Relocation and Career
Moving to Portugal at age 19, Korrodi spent the remainder of his life immersed in the local architectural scene. He integrated into Portuguese society through his marriage to a Portuguese woman and his eventual naturalization as a citizen of the country. His professional practice focused on the challenges posed by industrialization, including the development of new building requirements for railway stations, factories, and urban city blocks.

Korrodi managed an extensive portfolio comprising over 400 individual works distributed across Portugal. Among his most prominent contributions are the restoration of Leiria Castle and the construction of the Castle of D. Chica. He also designed the Hotel Guadiana located in Vila Real de Santo António, which holds the distinction of being the oldest hotel in the Algarve region. His ecclesiastical work includes the Church of Santa Catarina da Serra in Leiria, completed in 1902.
Professional Legacy
The evolution of construction materials, specifically the introduction of iron, glass, and the lift, necessitated a shift in his design approach. His output was consistently influenced by the specific demands of the Portuguese landscape, including local climate variables, available materials, and governing planning laws. He remained active in his practice until his death in 1944 at the age of 74, with his final resting place located in the Cemitério de Leiria.
