At eight years old, Elijah Wood made his professional screen debut with a fleeting appearance in the science fiction sequel Back to the Future Part II. Early Career and Television
Born in 1981, Wood began his path in entertainment through modeling and piano lessons. After relocating to Los Angeles, he appeared in Paula Abdul’s music video for Forever Your Girl. His initial film roles included parts in Avalon, Radio Flyer, and the adaptation of The Adventures of Huck Finn. Throughout the 1990s, he maintained a consistent presence in features such as The Good Son, The War, The Ice Storm, Deep Impact, and The Faculty. He also engaged with television projects, notably guest starring in Homicide: Life on the Street and later taking on lead roles in series such as Wilfred, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, and Yellowjackets.

Wood achieved international recognition for his performance as Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s work. He was the first actor cast in the project, having been selected from 150 candidates after submitting an audition tape. The production, filmed in New Zealand, spanned several years of principal photography and subsequent pick-up shooting. Following the conclusion of the trilogy in 2003, his professional portfolio expanded to include voice work for projects like Happy Feet, 9, and the animated series Over the Garden Wall.
Production and Musical Ventures
Beyond acting, Wood established himself as a producer and musician. In 2005, he founded the record label Simian Records, which remained active until 2015. He later co-founded a production company in 2010 focused on horror films, originally named The Woodshed and rebranded as SpectreVision in 2014. As a disc jockey, he performs globally alongside Zach Cowie under the name Wooden Wisdom. His diverse career also includes a 2012 Time Machine Award and a range of voice roles in projects including the video game-based series The Legend of Spyro.
