Early Career and Education
After attending Upper Canada College, Rogers earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario. From January 2003 to September 2009, Rogers served as President and CEO of Rogers Cable Inc. During his tenure, he oversaw a business that included more than 475 retail stores and employed over 14,000 people. By 2009, the unit generated $3.8 billion in revenue and over $1.3 billion in EBITDA. He was credited with doubling the division's EBITDA and increasing free cash flow by more than $800 million.
Corporate Governance and Mergers
In 2021, Rogers faced a boardroom conflict regarding the direction of Rogers Communications. After being briefly removed as chairman, he used a written resolution to reconstitute the board, a move validated by Justice Shelley Fitzpatrick of the British Columbia Supreme Court in November 2021. He was reinstated as chairman and subsequently oversaw the $20-billion acquisition of Shaw Communications in 2023. By July 2025, his leadership resulted in the company doubling its stake in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment to 75%.
Public Recognition and Philanthropy
Rogers has engaged in various philanthropic roles, including as Honorary Co-Chair of the 'Love, Scarborough' fundraising campaign. In 2026, he was appointed to the Order of Ontario.
