Donny Osmond first appeared on The Andy Williams Show in 1963 at the age of six, performing "You Are My Sunshine." Born in Ogden, Utah, in 1957, he evolved from a child participant in his brothers' singing group into a solo pop star, television host, and long-term Las Vegas residency performer throughout a career spanning several decades.

Early Career and Teen Idol Success

After joining his older brothers on The Andy Williams Show, Osmond established himself as a solo artist in the early 1970s. He became a fixture in teen magazines such as Tiger Beat and 16. His solo chart performance included the 1971 cover of Roy Orbison's "Sweet and Innocent," which reached number seven in the United States, and a number one hit with his 1971 version of "Go Away Little Girl." Additional successes included "Puppy Love" and "Hey Girl/I Knew You When."

Television and Collaborative Projects

Osmond collaborated frequently with his sister, Marie Osmond. The pair hosted the variety series Donny & Marie from 1976 to 1979 and later fronted a syndicated talk show that earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination between 1998 and 2000. Beyond his variety work, he hosted the game show Pyramid from 2002 to 2004. His reality television appearances include winning the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars and serving as a runner-up on the first season of The Masked Singer.

Professional Evolution and Residency

Following a career slump, Osmond reinvented his public persona in the late 1980s. Working with Peter Gabriel, he returned to the Billboard Hot 100 with the 1989 single "Soldier of Love" and the track "Sacred Emotion." In 2008, he and Marie began a residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas. Originally planned for six weeks, the production continued for 11 years, concluding in November 2019 after 1,730 performances. During this period, he also recorded music for Disney's Mulan, specifically the song "I'll Make a Man Out of You."
