The 1996 Olympic Campaign

Selection for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta came despite a diagnosed stress fracture in her right tibia. As the youngest member of the United States team, she contributed to the historic team gold medal. Her performance was marked by physical struggles, including falls on the vault during team optionals and a landing error on the balance beam during event finals. She finished ninth in the individual all-around and fourth in the floor exercise.

Transition and Elite Return

Post-Olympic years involved coaching shifts to Luminița Miscenco and later Mary Lee Tracy. In 1998, she achieved a career milestone by becoming the first American to win the all-around gold at the Goodwill Games. After a period of retirement and subsequent academic pursuits at Cuyahoga Community College and John Carroll University, she attempted a return to elite competition in 2005. A knee injury eventually precluded her participation in the 2000 Olympic Trials, and she eventually stepped away from professional gymnastics.
