Early Life and Education
Born in Alexandria on April 15, 1955, Fayed was the eldest child of Mohamed Al-Fayed and Saudi author Samira Khashoggi. His formative years were spent across multiple countries, attending the Collège Saint Marc in his home city, followed by the Institut Le Rosey in Rolle, Switzerland. He also undertook a brief period of training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Before focusing on cinema, Fayed served as an attaché at the United Arab Emirates Embassy in London. He subsequently engaged in film production through the company Allied Stars. His portfolio as an executive producer included titles such as Breaking Glass, F/X, the sequel F/X2, and Hook. Additionally, he fulfilled duties as an executive creative consultant for the television production F/X: The Series and contributed to the marketing operations for his father's retail business, Harrods.
Personal Relationships and Fatal Accident
Fayed married model Suzanne Gregard in 1986, though the union ended in divorce within eight months. By 1997, he was associated with Diana, Princess of Wales, following a period spent on his family yacht, the Jonikal. On August 31, 1997, while traveling through Paris, the vehicle carrying Fayed and the Princess crashed in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel. Both occupants, neither wearing seat belts, died at the scene. Investigations concluded that the driver, Henri Paul, was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs.
Legacy and Memorials
Following his death, Fayed was interred at Brookwood Cemetery before being moved to the family estate at Oxted. His father commissioned two memorials at Harrods, including a bronze statue titled Innocent Victims. These displays remained in the department store until 2018, when they were returned to the Al-Fayed family. His life and experiences have been depicted in media, including the film Diana and the series The Crown.
