Following her breakthrough in I Am Sam, Fanning became a consistent presence in major motion pictures. Her filmography from the 2000s includes roles in Trapped, Sweet Home Alabama, and Hansel and Gretel, followed by appearances in Uptown Girls and The Cat in the Hat. She starred alongside Denzel Washington in Man on Fire and Tom Cruise in the 2005 production War of the Worlds.
