Claude Jade gained international prominence for her recurring role as Christine in three feature films directed by François Truffaut. Early Training and Breakthrough
Before transitioning to film, Jade attended the Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Dijon for three years. In 1964, she performed the role of Agnès in Molière's L'école des femmes forty times. Relocating to Paris, she studied under Jean-Laurent Cochet at the Edouard VII theater. Her early success included a Prix de Comédie in 1966 for the play Ondine. She was eventually cast by François Truffaut in his 1968 film Stolen Kisses after he observed her performance in Pirandello's Henri IV.

Jade's portrayal of Christine Darbon spanned over a decade of Truffaut's work, including Bed and Board in 1970 and Love on the Run in 1979. Beyond these projects, she secured a role in Alfred Hitchcock's 1969 spy thriller Topaz as Michèle Picard. Despite an offer for a seven-year contract with Universal Pictures, she chose to focus on her career in France, appearing in diverse projects like Édouard Molinaro’s My Uncle Benjamin and André Hunebelle’s Under the Sign of Monte Cristo.
International Film and Television Career
Throughout the 1970s, Jade worked in Italy, Belgium, Germany, and Japan. Her filmography includes roles in The Boat on the Grass, Forbidden Priests, and The Pawn. She was also a frequent presence on French television, notably starring in the mystery series The Island of Thirty Coffins in 1979. Later in her career, she headlined the daily soap opera Cap des Pins between 1998 and 2000. Her final role was in the 2006 production Célimène et le cardinal.
