During this time, he implemented market-oriented reforms intended to stimulate regional economic growth. His administration was noted for its departure from traditional Soviet economic management, earning him national attention and facilitating his move into the upper echelons of the federal government.
Federal Appointments and Legislative Work
Nemtsov served as the First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation from 1997 to 1998, also holding a position on the Security Council. His parliamentary career included membership in the Federation Council and the 3rd State Duma of the Russian Federation. Following his time in the cabinet, he remained involved in the political process through the Union of Right Forces and his election to the Yaroslavl Oblast Duma in 2013.
Recognition and Legacy
Throughout his career, Nemtsov received several state honors, including the Medal of the Order for Merit to the Fatherland, 2nd class, and the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class. Following his death in Moscow in 2015, he was buried at the Troyekurovskoye cemetery.
