Early Development and Education
Born in 1955, Paxton grew up in Texas before pursuing formal training. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1973. His studies later took him to London at Richmond, The American International University, where he collaborated on Super 8 short films. He also attended the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and New York University, eventually relocating to Los Angeles to secure work in film production props and art departments.

Paxton became a frequent collaborator with director James Cameron, appearing in The Terminator, Aliens, True Lies, and Titanic. His filmography reflects a diverse range of genres, including roles in Near Dark, Tombstone, Apollo 13, and Twister. In 1996, he shared a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for his work on Apollo 13. His later career included appearances in Edge of Tomorrow and Nightcrawler.
Directing and Television
Beyond acting, Paxton moved into the director's chair with the 2001 horror film Frailty, which he also starred in, and the 2005 project The Greatest Game Ever Played. His television work included a starring role on the HBO drama Big Love from 2006 to 2011, earning three Golden Globe nominations. He also portrayed Randall McCoy in the 2012 miniseries Hatfields & McCoys, receiving Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.
