In 2004, Weber was appointed President of the Deutsche Bundesbank, succeeding Ernst Welteke. During his seven-year tenure, which concluded in 2011, he served as a member of the European Central Bank Governing Council. His responsibilities included board positions at the Bank for International Settlements and participation in the G7 and G20 finance meetings, representing German interests in global financial stability.
Transition to Banking and Global Advisory Roles
Following a brief period as a visiting professor at the University of Chicago, Weber moved to the private sector. He joined the board of UBS AG in 2012, eventually serving as chairman of UBS Group AG until his resignation in April 2022.
