Her early career included service at the Uppsala epidemic hospital in 1912, followed by appointments at Säters hospital in 1917 and Uddevalla Hospital in 1918. During the influenza epidemic, she practiced at Borgholm’s hospital between 1918 and 1919. Her tenure continued at Lund hospital from 1919 until 1927, and at Helsingborg hospital from 1927 until 1930.
Leadership and Administrative Tenure
In 1930, Björkman reached a professional milestone when she became chief physician at Källshagens hospital. She managed the facility from 1931 to 1936. She subsequently relocated to Vänersborg, where she served as hospital manager at Restad’s hospital from 1936 until 1951. In recognition of her contributions to the field, she received the Illis quorum gold medal in 1944.
