Asma Jahangir (1952–2018) was a Pakistani human rights activist and lawyer. She was born in Lahore on 27 January 1952. She died in Lahore on 11 February 2018, at the age of 66.
Asma Jahangir served as Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran (2016–2018), President of Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (2010–2012), United Nations Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief (2004–2010) and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (1987–2011). She was attached to United Nations.
Asma Jahangir was awarded Geuzenpenning (2002), Four Freedoms Award – Freedom of Worship (2016), Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders (1995), North–South Prize (2012) and Hilal-i-Imtiaz (2010). She studied at University of the Punjab and Kinnaird College for Women (Bachelor of Laws).
