Early Ventures and Foundational Technology
Born in 1964 in Atyrau, then part of the Soviet Union, the entrepreneur began his career at a state pipeline research institute. In 1989, he co-founded CompTek, a distributor of networking hardware. Parallel to these operations, he explored search technologies, forming Arkadia Company in 1990. These initial efforts provided the technical expertise required to co-found Yandex in 1997, where he served as general director from 2000 until 2014.

Committed to professional education, he co-founded the Yandex School of Data Analysis in 2007 and subsequently headed the Department of Data Analysis at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

In 2014, he relocated to Israel, where he had previously invested in companies such as Face.com and NeuroSteer. Following a corporate restructuring in 2024, he launched Nebius Group, focusing on artificial intelligence cloud infrastructure.
