Early Life and Education
Born in Ljubljana in 1961, Jamnik spent his formative childhood years in the village of Videm, Dobrepolje, within the Lower Carniola region. He completed his primary education in Grosuplje in 1976 before attending the Josip Jurčič Gymnasium in Stična from 1976 to 1980. Following his compulsory military service in the Yugoslav Army between 1980 and 1981, he enrolled at the Major Theological Seminary in Ljubljana. Simultaneously, he commenced studies at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Ljubljana, where he remained for six years.

On 29 June 1985, Archbishop Alojzij Šuštar ordained Jamnik as a priest for the Archdiocese of Ljubljana. His initial ministerial post was in the Kočevje parish, where he served from 1987 to 1990. He subsequently functioned as a personal assistant to the Archbishop of Ljubljana from 1990 to 1994. During this period, he pursued advanced academic research, defending his master's thesis in 1993. In 1994, he joined the Institute of St. Stanislav to instruct students in religion and philosophy at the Diocesan Classical Gymnasium, eventually completing his doctorate in 1997.
Academic and Episcopal Advancement
Since 1997, Jamnik has held an academic appointment as an assistant professor of philosophy at the University of Ljubljana, later rising to the rank of associate professor in 2012. His ecclesiastical path culminated on 8 January 2006, when he was consecrated as a bishop by Archbishop Alojz Uran in the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Ljubljana. He continues to operate as a member of the clergy and an academic, contributing to the Slovenian philosophical tradition through his work in religious thought and his proficiency in English, French, and his native Slovene.
