Born in Saaremaa on 29 December 1956, he combined his formal education in economics and international business with a sustained engagement in the local natural environment.
Academic and Professional Foundation
Kuus attended the Tallinn Polytechnic Institute, which is currently known as the Tallinn University of Technology. His academic background expanded to include studies at the Estonian Business School and York University in Canada, eventually yielding a master's degree in International Business Administration. Throughout his career, he held roles as an economist, finance director, and chief executive officer.

Between 1989 and 1992, Kuus served as a member of the Kuressaare City Council. During this interval, he worked at the Saaremaa Development Centre, operating under the name Arco. His duties involved fostering entrepreneurship and managing foreign economic relations in the region during a period of national systemic change. Beyond his development work, he founded several commercial entities, including Baltic Tours, AKTA, and Aktaprint.
Photography and Visual Documentation
Starting in 1991, Kuus focused his creative efforts on nature photography, specifically capturing the landscapes of Saaremaa. His visual portfolio highlights variations of the sea and sky, leading to seven published books, including titles such as 'Saaremaa', 'Eestimaa', and 'Mere ja taeva laulud'. Between 1999 and 2013, he also released calendars featuring his work. His exhibitions have taken place in Estonia, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Since 1995, he has balanced his time between his primary residence in Tallinn and a farm located on Saaremaa.
Musical Pursuits
In 2016, Kuus turned his attention toward songwriting. This shift resulted in the 2019 release of his debut CD album, 'Saaremaa Blues'. His musical compositions have been interpreted by other artists, including performances by Nunnu and Rockstar.
