Artistic Foundations and Education
Born in 1980 to Mohammad Zafarullah and Kanwal Ameen, both professors at the University of Punjab, Zafar grew up in a household with strong academic and creative interests. He completed his foundational studies at the C.A.A. Public School and the Beaconhouse School System before attending Government College University. In 2002, he graduated from the National College of Arts with an honour's degree in painting, a discipline he practiced professionally early in his life, including time spent as a sketch artist at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore.

Zafar transitioned into media through early roles in PTV drama serials such as Kollege Jeans, Kanch Ke Par, and Landa Bazar. As a musician, his trajectory reached a milestone with the success of Huqa Pani, which garnered the 2004 Lux Style Award for Best Album. He continued his musical output with the 2006 album Masty and the 2011 release Jhoom, the latter securing the 2012 Lux Style Award for Best Music Album. His creative versatility also encompasses songwriting and lyricism, with his work being featured in international projects, including the Hollywood film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
Cinema and Cross-Border Success
The 2010 satire Tere Bin Laden marked Zafar's debut in Bollywood, where his portrayal of a Pakistani journalist earned multiple Best Male Debut nominations. Following this, he appeared in films including Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Chashme Baddoor, and Dear Zindagi. In 2018, he transitioned to production with Lightingale Productions, which released the action-comedy Teefa in Trouble. His contributions to the arts were formally recognized on 23 March 2021, when he received the Pride of Performance award from President Arif Alvi at a ceremony in Islamabad.
