Professional Formation
Born in Paris in 1909 to an English father and a Brazilian mother, Reidy pursued his formal training at the Escola Nacional de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro beginning at age 17. During his academic tenure, he completed an apprenticeship with the French urban planner Alfred Agache. Upon his graduation in 1930, Lúcio Costa appointed him as a teaching assistant to Gregori Warchavchik at his alma mater.

Reidy gained national recognition through his participation in the design of the Ministry of Education and Health Building, now known as the Gustavo Capanema Palace. This effort involved a collaborative team that included Lúcio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer, Jorge Moreira, Ernani Vasconcelos, and Carlos Leão. This structure established a template for modernist public buildings throughout the country, emphasizing functionality and integration with the tropical climate.
Major Works and Landscapes
His portfolio includes the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, a project characterized by its landscape design provided by Roberto Burle Marx. Additionally, he designed the Carmen Miranda Museum, situated within the grounds of the Parque Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes, also known as Flamengo Park. These structures reflect his focus on the intersection of urban planning and institutional design before his death in 1964 at the age of 55.
