Britain's Got Talent, 2022
Britain's Got Talent series 15 ran in 2022, hosted by Ant and Dec, with David Walliams, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell judging. The series was won by the comedian Axel Blake.
Petty, billed as a nine-year-old magician, appeared in the second semi-final. He finished fourth on the public vote with 12.4 per cent and was eliminated. In a format where the top act goes through automatically and the judges typically choose between second and third, fourth place is one position outside the cut.
America's Got Talent, 2023
A year later he crossed to the American show. America's Got Talent season 18 ran in 2023, hosted by Terry Crews, with Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell judging, and was won by the dog act Adrian Stoica and Hurricane.
The season results table gives Petty as a ten-year-old magic act from Cannock, United Kingdom. He appeared in the second qualifier on 30 August 2023 and was eliminated in the top five. Simon Cowell sits on both panels, and is the one constant between the two appearances.
Doing it twice, and young
The two shows share a format and an owner but run separate audition processes on different continents, with different audiences voting. Clearing the audition rounds of both inside two years is unusual for any act. Doing it at nine and then ten places Petty among the youngest performers to reach live rounds on either show.
Close-up magic is also an awkward fit for television at that age. The genre depends on proximity and misdirection, both of which are harder to sustain in an arena and under multiple cameras than across a table. Neither results table describes his routines, and this page does not reconstruct them.
What a live round actually is
Both shows funnel thousands of auditions through a judges' cut into a small number of live episodes. In Britain those are semi-finals; in America they are qualifiers. Either way the act performs once, live, and the national audience votes. There is no second attempt and no aggregate score across episodes.
Petty reached that stage twice, on two continents, before turning eleven, and lost both votes. The results are set down here exactly as the tables give them, because the tables are the only sources this record has.

Hacer la prueba de CI →What is documented and what is not
Documented by the two results tables: his age of 9 in 2022 and 10 in 2023, his act as magic, his home in Cannock, his fourth place on 12.4 per cent in the second Britain's Got Talent semi-final of 2022, and his elimination in the top five of the second America's Got Talent qualifier on 30 August 2023.
Not documented in these sources: his date of birth, his school, his family, who trained him, what tricks he performed, and anything about him since 2023. The research record for this page notes that only the results tables were reachable when it was compiled and that a news source should confirm the details. That caveat stands.
