Two golds, two scoreboards

The European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad publishes a full scoreboard for every edition, listing each contestant by country code with her marks on the six problems, her total, her rank and her medal. Kazhamiakina appears on two of them under Italy.

At EGMO 2025 in Prishtina she scored 32 and ranked ninth. At EGMO 2026 in Bordeaux she scored 26 and shared tenth place. Both entries carry a gold medal, which is the detail that matters: a top-ten placing in consecutive years, against a field that turns over annually.

The three-way tie in Bordeaux

The 2026 scoreboard produces an unusually neat piece of arithmetic. Three contestants finished on exactly 26 points and therefore share the rank of tenth: Kazhamiakina for Italy, Rina Hatachi for Japan and Defne Hergul for Turkey.

Shared ranks are ordinary at this level, because totals are built from six problems each marked out of seven and the resulting scores cluster. What the tie illustrates is the geography of the competition. An olympiad named for Europe had an Italian, a Japanese and a Turkish contestant level at the same point on the table.

How EGMO is scored

Each contestant sits six problems, listed on the scoreboard as P1 through P6, each marked out of seven points, for a maximum of 42. The 2023 scoreboard shows the ceiling is reachable: fourteen contestants that year finished on a perfect 42.

Medals are recorded in a column beside the totals. Kazhamiakina's 32 in 2025 and 26 in 2026 both fell inside the gold band for their year, which moves with the difficulty of the papers rather than sitting at a fixed number.

What is documented - and what is not

The evidence for this page is two official scoreboards. They give a name, a country, six problem scores, a total, a rank and a medal. They do not give a birth year, an age, a school, a city, a photograph or a quotation, and no Wikipedia article on Kazhamiakina was found.

Those absences are left as absences. Most EGMO competitors are school-age, and Geniuses.club does not attach an age, a family or a home town to a young competitor's name on the strength of a scoreboard line.

Why the second gold counts more than the first

EGMO moves each year, and so does its cohort. The editions documented here ran in Portoroz in Slovenia in 2023, Tskaltubo in Georgia in 2024, Prishtina in Kosovo in 2025 and Bordeaux in France in 2026, each with a new set of six problems written from scratch.

A contestant who returns has to be selected by her national team a second time and then perform against a different room on different problems. Kazhamiakina's two entries, ninth and joint tenth, sit within a place of each other despite that churn, which is a steadier result than either number alone suggests.
